Black & White Photo's of the Dead
by Jeff Sloan
life outside the living prism
dapper dinner guest
facial hair clinging to skull
a clock ticking in reverse
time is a taken-face
the soft whir of moving film
a moment to describe a life
forgotten footsteps and vacant stare
their linen mute and without trade
gray marks on puzzle pieces
murkey background with roots
eyes engaging
an invitation to dance
who were these forgotten worlds
we fascinate in such flashes
here, no life or death
in haunted black and white
photographs of the dead.
